Filming in a dance studio with mirrors
By Con, founder of Music Wide Selfie · Updated 22 October 2026
Short answerAngle the phone so the mirror isn’t straight behind you, or use the mirror on purpose to show both front and back. Check the studio’s filming rules and keep other dancers out of shot unless they agree.
Reflections
A phone pointed straight at a mirror will see itself. Turn it slightly or film from the side.
Use the mirror
Filming your back with the mirror in front shows both sides at once, useful for learning.
Etiquette
Ask the studio and other dancers before filming.
Questions
Best height?
Waist height for full-body dance.
